#1.104: Filling out Scholarship
Yesterday, I started the application for this scholarship.
This scholarship is for $100,000 over the four years in college.
The application for the scholarship had a section where you could explain unexpected circumstances. This is what I wrote for that section:
In the past several months, I have been healing from a severe concussion that was caused by a head collision in the first soccer game of the 2012 season. This concussion has made it extremely difficult for me to continue my excellence academically and athletically. During this past summer I visited what is now my 1st college choice. After meeting the soccer coach and seeing the campus, I began the recruiting process. Because of this concussion, my dreams of playing soccer at my 1st college choice may not come true. During my healing process, I have had to still keep up with the deadlines for applying to college even though the concussion makes it almost impossible to completely write an effective essay. This concussion has slowed down every single action that I would take to improve my achievement in school and in my community. Although this injury has crushed my heart and dreams, I refuse to give up on everything that I have worked so hard for.
